C and I enjoyed a weekend trip to attend a family wedding in Michigan. We had a wonderful time driving up the west side of the state along Lake Michigan and stopping at some beautiful Michigan beaches along the way. Above is one of the sunsets we enjoyed on our travels along with a rocky beach scene (photos taken by C). The wedding seemed like a family reunion and it was so good to see everyone. We reminisced about our own wedding two years ago and agreed that it was nice to look forward to attending a wedding vs. being in one as we got much more time to catch up and enjoy everyone's company (We loved our own wedding, just felt like we were on the go and didn't have as much time as we wanted to talk to all of the people who came)! Having a family that lives in many different places, getting the chance to see each other and spend time together is a real treat. Seems we value every minute as we never know when our next time together will be.
I'm busy trying to get everything done that I can. There's an urgency to get everything done immediately but I'm pacing myself, making lists, and doing my best to just do what I can each day. We still have a few months to go until B day (Baby Burkhart Arrival Day) but with knowing I'm showing a month ahead of schedule, knowing that babies appear when they want to, AND wondering how long I'll be able to appreciate such things as seeing my feet, having some energy, and just moving in general, the more I can get done now, the better!
Although I'm feeling huge and occasionally feeling old (since I can't walk near as far as usual without my feet or back getting tired and am always looking for a nearby bathroom or my next nap), the good news is that I still fit in restaurant booths!!! C and I laughed early in my pregnancy that a preference for sitting in booths might come to an end when I didn't fit in them anymore.
The nice thing about summer break is that I find more time to walk. I feel so much better when I get some exercise in and Ilsa doesn't seem to mind some extra walks one bit!
At a recent meeting I attended, a fellow member looked down at my feet and commented in surprise "You can still paint your toenails?" Funny. I told her proudly that yes, I still could!
So, C and I were watching TV yesterday when suddenly, my belly started moving! I've been feeling movements, just hadn't been able to share the fun with C yet. We were both surprised to see something that looked like a volcano bubbling and getting ready to erupt. C witnessed the movement and we were both excited to see baby B on the move.
Wishing all of you a good week!

C's photos remind me of family picnics on the Lake Michigan beach at Pilgrim Haven. We even had winter Snow Picnics. They're somehow the ones I remember best -- a bonfire built for warmth, the one year one of my legs broke through the ice and soaked my pants quite thoroughly. For some reason, your Grandmama attached the pants to a side mirror or door handle on the drive home. I spent the trip with my bare legs wrapped in one of the scratchy brown blankets we had while my pants dried -- well, mostly froze -- in the wind.
ReplyDeleteBaby B on the move -- very exciting!
