I passed the glucose test...yippee!!! I made the cutoff but was told that I need to be on a low sugar diet. I asked C after getting off the phone with the nurse if he thought this meant no more ice cream. I really don't eat it much but have my occasional craving. He thought occasionally would still be o.k. : ) Am so thankful that I don't have diabetes and that I didn't have to take the next step of the 3 hour glucose test! The nurse also said I needed more iron (common in pregnancy) so one more pill will be added to the collection.
We met with the doc last week and now begin our every two week appointments. The doc thought I was retaining some water so prescribed drinking more water, eating apples, raw asparagus and raw broccoli to help. Sounds like we can expect one more ultrasound and possibly a non-stress test (where I'm put in a non-stressful situation and baby B is monitored to see how he handles stress when I move, etc.). This doc has been so good at taking time to answer our "new parent" questions and I've also been impressed with the time she's taken to educate us by really explaining everything in understandable terms (not doctor-ease).
We also attended a Childbirth Express class. I joked that I hoped taking the class would guarantee a quick labor. Really, the class gave a three hour overview of the stages of labor, pain relief options, breathing techniques, and a tour of the hospital. Oh, and no childbirth class would be complete without a video!

Last week was a week for celebrations. C and I celebrated our second anniversary! Above are the beautiful flowers C surprised me with.
Saturday, we celebrated Father's Day at my in-laws house with a cookout. It proved to be a memorable occasion with an unwelcome visitor. As C was grilling, something came out from under the grill. It took a few minutes for it to register what it was. It was a black snake who was probably getting quite hot. We quickly got my nephew and the animals inside and took shelter while the men encouraged it to go away. It appeared to find a neighbor's yard to visit instead. Snakes are not my favorite of creatures and I was happy it went somewhere else, anywhere else! All went well after that with good food and good company. My nephew is very into drawing and it was so much fun to see him draw letters, clouds, and Blue's Clues paw prints. When C was a teenager, he brought home a snake hoping to keep it for a pet. His mom told him it was either he or the snake and C decided to get rid of the snake. Alright, no more talk of slithery creatures!
It was fun to celebrate C's first Father's Day. When I married C, I was thrilled to find the man of my dreams. I also knew he'd make a great dad should we have a family. I look forward to Baby B entering the world and also look forward to seeing C as a dad!
