Spring Break!!!

It's been Spring Break here!!! We enjoyed a weekend trip to Lexington, Kentucky to see Daniel Boone National Forest and the Kentucky Horse Park. Both were nice places with their own beauty. It was a nice getaway. It is amazing how we both become different, more relaxed versions of ourselves when we travel. The first picture shows the Nada Tunnel, a long cave-like tunnel that used to be used by a train to carry logs. Now, cars use the tunnel and one must watch carefully as only one lane of traffic can use the tunnel at a time. The second picture shows the Skylift. We attempted to walk the steep, uphill trail to the Natural Bridge then opted for the skylift. It was a beautiful way to travel uphill! The last picture is a shot along the way as we were enjoying the skylift.

After returning home, I picked up my sister from the airport and we drove to visit my grandfather in Battle Creek, Michigan. Grandpa is almost 86 and is an amazing, positive soul full of wisdom and care for everyone he meets. Through many moves throughout my childhood, his home stayed the same and remained a stable place. Sometimes I feel like I know his address better than my own! We enjoyed watching movies and listening to Grandpa's stories. His memory of details from the past amazes me and I wish I could capture every story to remember and pass on.

My sister and I have enjoyed a week of traveling, shopping, and talking. It has worked out nicely over the years that we have shared the same Spring Break. Mom came in today to visit and we'll take my sister to the airport tomorrow. It has been nice to have them visit. We had fun introducing them to a favorite restaurant tonight that serves one of our favorite foods, peanut butter pizza. Both were skeptical of liking it at first but left with nothing but positive comments about how much better it was than they had imagined!
Wishing all of you a happy, joyful Easter weekend!
