Oh Boy, It's A Boy!!!!!
Today was the big day when we got to find out if our little baby was a boy or a girl. I kept telling everyone that I was hoping we didn't have a shy baby who decided to conceal its' identifying parts. Well, our little guy wasn't shy one bit. He was quite obviously a boy! Also, with this being an important time to see if there were any developmental concerns, pictures were reviewed and we were told that all looked good. We celebrated the news by walking around Target and Babies R Us to look at all of the boy things. Who knew that there was so much to choose from in baby world? A kind lady stopped us as we were taking in the many options in baby strollers to share some words of wisdom and her own preferences as a mom. We were thankful for her advice. We stopped in JCPenneys so I could find something blue to wear to school tomorrow. As I was checking out, the checkout lady commented on my baby bump and shared that this was a day for women with baby bumps as several had been through to make purchases today. We ended the big day by eating at a favorite restaurant where we went on our first date, celebrated being engaged, our first anniversary, and now, our little boy. I've only bought a couple of baby outfits today so I'm doing pretty well, don't you think? : )

I think you're doing GREAT and I admire your restraint.
ReplyDeleteI'm charmed by your reference to your baby bump. When Susan was pregnant with Gavi, my friend James White was visiting from Northern Ireland and referred to Susan's condition as "having a bump" and, later, asking, "and how's your bump?" All in his soft-spoken, lilting, Irish voice. Whenever I hear the term, it reminds me of him in a really happy way. Your post is the first time I've heard it in years.
That was really nice of the woman who gave you some stroller advice -- there are a lot of options in equipment, and some not-so-obvious benefits to some models over others. Considering I've never had kids, I've read an awfully lot about breast pumps as women share their thoughts and questions on their blogs and such.
When Gavi was a babe, I didn't do the research myself, but merely bought the same car seat and (later) booster seat that Fred and Susan had in their cars. That way, everything was familiar and comfortable when she was in my car -- and it was *much* easier than having to remove and install a car seat twice every time I took her anywhere!
Tomorrow (Saturday) I am going to Connecticut's 100th Annual Sheep and Wool Festival with friends. It's only 25 miles away from Toad Woods, so will be super easy to get to. You can bet I'm going to be looking at more baby yarn and patterns in between watching the sheep shearing and dog trials.
