I've had a few requests to see a preggo picture. Here's how I look pregnant! The baby has started a good book collection already! Mom bought the baby its' first book and my sister followed with some wonderful books that I'm sure the baby will love. She even read the baby its' first story, Five Little Ducks, when we were in Michigan. The baby has a cute duck outfit now with duck footies, a sweet polka dot hat, a special fabric ball and an "I love my mommy" bib. The baby is well on its' way to being spoiled already thanks to its' aunt! We had fun going to a few baby stores over Spring Break. I loved looking at the cute clothes that were amazingly tiny. I've resisted the urge to buy yet as so many clothes seem more girl-like or boy-like. We will know more details to help with that soon! As we made our way back from Michigan last week, we stopped to visit a dear college friend of my sisters'. She had a sweet little 6 week old baby girl. I must admit to staring in awe as my sister held the sleeping baby, trying to take in the reality that I would have one of THOSE in a few months! I learned of an important new development in the diaper industry while we were visiting. Pampers now has a diaper with a line across it that turns colors when it's time for a diaper change. How convenient!
I've enjoyed sharing the baby news with students during my regular lessons. Cute comments that stand out in my mind are: "Good luck with having a baby." "Did you know that what you eat, the baby gets to eat, too?" "Are you having twins?" "I hope you have Siamese twins."
My maternity leave was posted just before Spring Break. Each little step along the way makes all of this seem more real and having a maternity leave is about as real as it gets! I'm hoping for someone wonderful to fill in during my absence and I find myself motivated to keep my office more organized, knowing someone else will have to find their way around. I look forward to having some time to spend with our little one and I'm trying to think of projects and creative things to keep me busy while being home. More than likely, getting a few zzzzz's whenever possible will be at the top of the list in the beginning!

Yep, you're looking pregnant all right! Big Grin.
ReplyDeleteThe soon-to-be great aunt who's having a birthday today sent her kid sister an Easter basket filled with yarn and a pattern book for baby washcloths. Since I've already eaten all of the chocolate eggs nestled in between the skeins of yarn, I guess I'd better start knitting soon! They look like fun, and super-quick, too.
How long do you plan to be on maternity leave? I remember how much babies warp time from when Gavi was an infant through her toddler years. Time I spent with her was just...different. Minutes could last an eternity but somehow the hours for doing anything else...or even the random 10 minute periods...were nowhere to be found. Good luck to you, my nephew-in-law, and your baby as the three of you find and settle into a cadence that works well all around. And, yes, getting adequate sleep deserves every chance you can give it.
