We had a doctor appointment earlier in the week at amazingly 30 weeks! 20 weeks seemed so monumental because we'd hit the halfway point. 30 weeks seems even more monumental as we only have 10 weeks to go (or less depending on when baby appears) until we add a new member to our family!
All went well at the doctor appointment. I will have a non-stress test and ultrasound at 32 weeks then will continue to have a non-stress test once each week after that. Another interesting discovery involved the measuring that the doc does each week. She said I measured 36 at this appointment and usually the measurement is close to the number of weeks of pregnancy. So, a normal measurement right now would be 30. I am measuring 6 weeks ahead thanks to my lovely additional growing parts taking up room, too. The good news is that I measured 7 weeks ahead at my last appointment so the doc thinks the fibroid growth has slowed down...yippee!!! Should be quite interesting to see what I look like as 40 weeks (full-term) comes near-what does someone look like at 46 weeks? Just one of those interesting thoughts I find myself wondering about and trying to picture.
Baby B has been on the move more and more. Or maybe I can just feel more movements now that he's bigger. My belly has more action that's becoming more visible from the outside. This week, he had the hiccups! Babies usually begin having the hiccups earlier in pregnancy but once they get bigger, they can more easily be recognized. I'd heard that babies get hiccups but it was quite amazing to experience this myself. It was so cute to watch my belly pulse up and down as he did his thing.
Here's one of the weekly pregnancy updates I receive via e-mail. This describes week 30: "Few more weeks and your baby will be seeing this world! You are in middle of your 3rd trimester. As you are in your final stages of pregnancy you will become more restless and you might also feel quite tired and exhausted; so just relax and take some rest.
In this week your baby should be weighing in at around 3 pounds 12 ounces and be nearly 16 inches long and the senses are developed to the point where s/he can taste, touch, see, and hear what's going on around them. You can start interacting with your baby for example if you poke your belly s/He may kick or hit back. Your baby’s eyes are becoming more mature and have fully developed and functional digestive tract and lungs during this week."
We have been busy learning how to operate important baby gadgets. C got the baby crib put together which I'm very excited about. C's brother and sister-in-law are sharing their baby swing and pack n' play (and many other good things). They made a good suggestion that we begin to have these items around now so the animals can get accustomed to them before Baby B arrives. Great idea! The music from the swing had Ilsa totally relaxed and falling asleep-we're hoping it does the same thing for baby! And my father-in-law and mother-in-law kindly got a stroller system for baby. C is great at this baby gadget thing and had the stroller put together in minutes. We practiced strapping Winnie the Pooh in the carseat so we could get a better idea of how it worked. I'm sure it will seem a little different than putting in a squirming baby boy!
Have a happy 4th of July!

Oh, wow. The time is certainly flying by now! Thanks for your great update. It sounds like things are really coming together on the gadget front.
ReplyDeletePooh is so cute in Baby B's carseat.
Three cheers for everything going well at your doctor's appointment. That's always good to hear. And speaking of hearing, I love that Baby B can hear you and start becoming familiar with the sounds that will soon become lifelong memories. There's a sound that the back screen door at 22 Grand Blvd makes that is still the sound of childhood's summer to me. I love that sound.
Baby B is coming soon! I must knit faster.
