Just a quick update from our ultrasound/Dr. visit today. All looks good with Baby B...heart rate, umbilical cord, etc. The surprise of the day came when the tech asked us which one of us was the big baby. Huh? C was a preemie and weighed in at approx. 5 lbs while I was approx. 7 lbs. The tech told us that our baby was quite large weighing in at 5 pounds 9 ounces AND the biggest news of all was when she shared with us that our baby now shows a due date of August 7!!! Oh my!
Our doc was very surprised to see the results. She actually appeared to not quite know what to think. She thought I was showing further along (as I have from the very beginning) because of fibroid growth. At this point, the ultrasound shows that the once growing fibroid of concern has now shrunk quite a bit and the size of baby is what is making me show ahead (C thinks the vitamins I'm taking are REALLY working)! The doc reviewed past ultrasounds that were consistent with a September due date (One showed September 8th while another showed September 5th and another, September 6th so all were within close range). She talked about not wanting to wait too long to bring baby into the world but definitely wanting to be cautious about not delivering him too soon either. So we see our friend, the specialist, again next week to see what he makes of it all. C and I are a bit in shock today. We randomly find ourselves chuckling as we think about possibly becoming parents in 3-4 weeks instead of 7-8 weeks! We're pleased to be taking our Newborn Care class next week as who knows, we may be caring for a newborn in no time! It sure will be interesting to find out what the doc thinks next week. Life is full of surprises! : )
