Hope this little blog note finds all of you doing well this weekend.
It's a quiet day here. Mom is coming in tomorrow so we can celebrate Mother's Day. I'm getting some cleaning done and playing "Silly Favorites" for Baby B. There was a book sale at school and I found a nice set of children's cd's. Thought it would be nice to play the baby some music AND refresh my memory of all of the good children's songs. Thank you mom for singing to me when I was growing up and making music a part of my life! As I'm playing songs today, I'm thankful that many are coming back to mind. I hope to have fun passing on some favorite songs to our little boy. Favorites we are listening to today are "Apples and Bananas", "The Ants Go Marching", "Do Your Ears Hang Low?", "John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt" and "The Hokey Pokey".
Before I left school yesterday, a co-worker wished me a Happy Mother's Day. I was taken aback for a minute and then realized "Oh yeah, I'm a mother." It will take a little while to take in my new role and title! I got some fun advice on coming up with a baby name yesterday. One mom said I should practice screaming the name to see if it fits as I would be yelling the name for many years to come. She practiced yelling a name for her son and decided it didn't fit because it sounded too "redneck" when she yelled it. She also suggested imagining how the name would sound if it was listed on a sign for a law firm. She said many names sound cute when the child is little but not so cute when the child is an adult. The law firm sign "test" was her way to tell if the name sounded equally as good for a child and adult.
These past few months have brought many visits to the hospital for lab tests. Being an older mother, I think the doctors are being extra cautious. Saw a specialist in Indy last week and the good news is that although I am slightly off on some of my numbers and happen to be a bit of a mystery patient, all is said to be well. I'm just to be tested here and there to be sure the numbers don't drastically change. Although it brings some apprehension to wonder if everything is o.k., I'm thankful for doctors who err on the side of caution when they're unsure of something. It was a relief to hear from the "experts" that all is well.
It's May which means guess where C is today? May means an exciting month at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway gearing up for the Indy 500. My hubby is a big fan and it's fun to see him become childlike with excitement when this time of year comes around. Today is "Pole Day" or an important qualifying day for the big race. He's having a great time watching the cars whiz by, seeing the drivers, and taking pictures. He has only missed one Indy 500 race since he began attending at age 10 which means this year will be his 27th year of attending the race!

Good luck determining a name. A good resource I found is "The Perfect Baby Name: Finding the Name that sounds just right" by Whitney Walker and Eric Reyes. It helps you find a name based on your last name and rhythms and sounds that go with it. I found it at my library.
