Common Second Trimester Friends and Happenings...

A healthy breakfast. I'm so thankful for cheez-its and oyster crackers. Odd, but after no sickness at all during my first trimester, the second trimester has brought morning AND evening sickness. Although it's no fun, I remain thankful that the timing couldn't be more convenient
as I'm usually home when it hits!

Tissues and Sinus Rinse. Sinus problems happen to go along with pregnancy and tissues have become my friends.

Comfortable shoes. My feet are swelling some and have grown! I looked down at my feet recently and honestly wondered if they were really mine as they looked so different. Last weekend, I purchased some Easy Spirit shoes at T. J. Maxx and they are soooo comfy that I feel like I'm walking on air.

After-work naps. I find myself coming home and snoozing for awhile to re-energize. Ilsa loves every minute and is quick to find a warm spot nearby to keep me company.

Offers of help to lift things. Common items that I'm used to lifting have suddenly become reason for others to jump in to help, telling me I shouldn't be lifting. I was at my initiation a few weeks ago (for the cool group I mentioned in an earlier post that I was excited about joining). At the end of the meeting, seventy and eighty year old ladies were putting chairs away and of course, I jumped in to help. Well, they would have none of my help and very much protested that I should not be lifting chairs in my state. I found it quite funny that they were two and three times my age but insisted on not allowing me to help. A new mom standing in the room told me to enjoy every minute. As a sidenote, I found out from my mom just before joining that my great aunt Eileen had also been a member of this same group many years ago in Illinois. In her memory, I wore a ring I have with her initials engraved on it when attending initiation.

Comments about my growing figure. I was told at work earlier this week that I was "blossoming". What a kind way to comment about my growing belly. I even had a co-worker (who isn't pregnant) stand next to me who wanted to compare who had a bigger belly, she or me. She thought hers was still bigger.

Off the pregnancy topic, have you heard about the Purdue students who are giving out free compliments? With so much that's depressing in the news, this was refreshing to hear! Go here to read more. A link is included to view a video of the "Compliment Guys".

Hope all is well in your neck of the woods. TGIF!
