Twins

To share a little more information from our recent doctor visit, it was recommended that we see a specialist in Indianapolis next week as our doctor would like his opinion on what she calls a "huge" fibroid. Hubby and I did at least wonder along the way if we would have twins as there are twins on both sides of my family. Ironically, although we only know of one baby and one heartbeat, I've been told it may feel like I'm carrying twins when carrying a baby AND a fibroid. Yikes! The doctor sounded positive about dealing with fibroids and we were both pleased that she was being extra cautious to want a specialist's opinion. Down the road, she said I may experience pain but with a straight face, she said there were narcotics she could give me to help. Seriously??? I choked for a minute and then regained my composure. I asked about the safety of narcotics and she said there really were some safe narcotics out there for pregnancy and that narcotics were actually safer for a baby than taking aspirin. Guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it but I'm hoping narcotics won't be necessary.

We had guessed the baby might be born the first part of September and it was fun to find out an "official" due date. With having many family members and friends with September birthdays, we had wondered if the due date might fall on the birthday of someone we know. Well, September 8 happens to be my mother-in-law's birthday!!! When I mentioned the date in the teacher's lounge recently, a co-worker commented that it was his mother's birthday and did I know that it was also the day Mark McGuire broke Roger Maris's 37 year old record of 61 home runs? No, I didn't know that but I'm sure any baseball fans out there would enjoy knowing that bit of trivia.
